In this book, many culinary manuscripts and recipe books from the Middle Ages have been explored. The famous Mesnagier de Paris, Viandier de Taillevent and recipes from the "Registre de cuisine" intended for the Pope, the Durham Manuscript, dating from the 12th century and thus dethroning the Manuscrit de Sion as the oldest medieval recipe book in the French language.
